An aroma compound, also known as odorant, aroma, fragrance or flavor, is a chemical compound that has a smell or odor. A chemical compound has a smell or odor when two conditions are met: the compound needs to be volatile, so it can be transported to the olfactory system in the upper part of the nose, and it needs to be in a sufficiently high concentration to be able to interact with one or more of the olfactory receptors. Aroma compounds can be found in food, wine, spices, perfumes, fragrance oils, and essential oils. For example, many form biochemically during ripening of fruits and other crops. In wines, most form as byproducts of fermentation. Odorants can also be added to a dangerous odorless substance, like propane, natural gas, or hydrogen, as a warning. Also, many of the aroma compounds play a significant role in the production of flavorants, which are used in the food service industry to flavor, improve, and generally increase the appeal of their products. Asked by Alice - Sun Aug 12 16:11:45 2007 - - 24 Answers - 0 Comments A. i started when i was like nine or ten. you should use a fragrance that smells good like cotton or flowers but you shouldn't get a citrusy-fruity perfume, because if you put too much on, it'll give you a headache. only use one spray on your neck, and one on the back of each knee (that way you smell great all over!) also, never use perfume in the place of deodorant; you don't want to smell like b.o and flowers Answered by Molly =] - Sun Aug 12 16:22:57 2007 Best home fragrances from Bath and Body Works? Q. Looking for a plug in home fragrance with a nice gentle scent, not to strong. Any fragrances you suggest I take a look at? Thanks! I put this question here because I'm sure if you shop here for your skin you probably pick something up for your homes too. Thx! Well, I really like the fall fragrances...sweet cinnamon pumpkin, creamy nutmeg (which my mom uses in her bathroom and is a very light scent), cinnamon & clove buds, spiced cider. Those tend to be pretty universally liked. Also, coconut lime verbena is really nice in the Wallflowers, as is fresh linen. I thought I would like vanilla coconut...but it starts to get gross after awhile. (That might be because I have it cooped up in a small downstairs bathroom...) And the holiday fragrances are coming out this Monday the 13th! Spice, Winter, Tree and Frosted Cranberry! :] Just so you know, if you ever pick out a Wallflower fragrance, and it is too strong for you, or just not what you want in a fragrance, you are never stuck with it. Check out www.ask.com and put in "aromatherapy recipes" to find some websites to help you out. As for perfumes, good luck!! I understand most companies hire scientists to develop the intricate scents... Answered by Patricia D - Thu Feb 1 22:11:12 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "fragrances" |
