A. If you "layer" the scent (use the body wash, lotion and the fragrance), it lasts much longer!

A. eau de toilette has water making it cheaper because its not as strong where as perfume has no water added and its basically concentrated which makes it stronger. just like detergent, you want the concentrated one not the one that has added water in it.

Does eau de parfum or eau de toilette last longer on your skin?
Q. I am going to buy some Coco Chanel Mademoiselle perfume tomorrow and I can't decide which is better: eau de parfum or eau de toilette (which will last longer on my skin).. Do you normally notice the difference?
Asked by Ellie - Thu Apr 16 08:36:23 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have both the eau de toilette and the eau de parfum. The eau de toilette comes in a big bottle, it is really the same kind you get for any other fragrance. However the eau de parfum is just pure perfume. The bottle is tiny but it is not mixed with water or anything. Usually this is more expensive. I I would say the eau de parfum lasts longer on the skin simply because it is pure perfume. You hardly have to use any just a few dabs here and there because it is so strong :) But its your choice, i love Coco Chanel Mademoiselle its beautiful :)

What's the difference between the victoria's secret garden body spray and the eau de toilette spray?
Q. The body spray is bigger and the eau de toilette spray is much smaller in size, they smell the same...so really what's the difference?
Asked by c@ramel_m@mi - Fri Nov 30 01:16:36 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I am in Australia so don't know these products, but body sprays are usually less concentrated and therefore don't smell as strong or last as long as the eau de toilette which is more concentrated. If you want perfume go for the eau de toilette or if you can afford it try fragrance layering, using the body spray first all over and then the eau de toilette just on your pulse points. This will make the fragrance last longer.

A. Yes, the eau de toilettes are stronger than the body splash. Also, make sure you try them out before you buy them, because the EDTs are also a bit more alcoholy smelling than the splash. Some of the fragrances don't quite smell like you would expect in the EDTs.

How to apply eau de toilette?
Q. Hi, I was just wondering how to apply eau de toilette. Should you spray it directly onto your throat, chest, etc. - or should you spray it onto your hand first and then apply it to your throat, chest etc.? Thanks
Asked by a_muscular_body - Thu Aug 28 13:26:29 2008 - - 17 Answers - 1 Comments
A. It is simply a watered-down perfume. Don't use too much, spray it on pulse points. If you spray it on your hands first, you will weaken it further, since your hand sill absorb part of the fragrance. As the percentage of aromatic compounds increases, so does the intensity and longevity of the scent created. Different perfumeries or perfume houses assign different amounts of oils to each of their perfumes. Therefore, although the oil concentration of a perfume in Eau de Parfum (EdP) dilution will necessarily be higher than the same perfume in Eau de Toilette (EdT) from within the same range, the actual amounts can vary between perfume houses. An EdT from one house may be stronger than an EdP from another.

How long does an Eau De Toilette last? And how long does a perfume last ?
Q. Attention : I mean how long they last, until the bottle gets empty . Because if i buy one that is expensive, i guess that it lasts 3 months . Right ? for Eau De toilette i will be putting them every day (morning).
Asked by sotoqueyan - Mon Nov 26 13:11:27 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well it depends on the size of the bottle. The most common sizes are 1oz, 1.7oz, and 3.4oz. The Eau de Perfum will last longer because you will need about 4 sprays to last almost the whole day, with a Toilette you will end up re apply during the day. An Eau de Toilette has more water than fragrance so it results in a lighter smell. The Eau de Perfum has more fragrance than water resulting in a stronger longer lasting scent.

What is the difference between perfume and eau de toilette?
Q. I found my answer:- There are several categories of fragrances today: perfume is at the top, followed by eau de parfum, eau de toilette, and eau de cologne, each containing a lesser degree of aromatic oils, respectively. The lower the concentration of aromatic compounds, the shorter the scent life. Perfume is highly prized precisely because it lasts from morning until night. Additionally, perfume wears well, meaning the scent stays fresh as the day wears on. In fact, good perfume is designed to smell nice throughout its various stages of wear.

Q. What's the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum?
Asked by sodium_lights - Wed Sep 5 04:03:07 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Eau de parfum is a lot more concentrated and contains a higher percentage of oil in it. It is therefore stronger and longer lasting. Eau de toilette contains a high percentage of water, in fact if you look at the ingredients on an eau de toilette bottle the first ingredient will invariably be aqua. The result is less strong and less long lasting. However it even depends on the kind of skin you have. If you have oily skin a water based perfume would probably last longer because it gets absorbed by the skin, an oily perfume would not be absorbed by oily skin and would evaporate away. The opposite works out for dry skins.

Q. Bottles seem to come in 50ml, 100ml, 125ml, and larger. I have seen a 50ml of a bottle on-line, i reckon it would be too small? How many times do you reckon you could use a 50ml bottle?! I have searched and searched - but all search results just show results to buy!! Thanks
Asked by J9grrrrrrrrrrrrrr - Sun Sep 20 10:26:12 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Hi, Most people buy 100ml size perfume bottles as they are better deals in long run. There is usually a difference of $10-$15 only between 50ml and 100ml bottles. Now keep in mind 100ml are not allowed in air plane cabins anymore so for traveling 50ml is the best way to go. You can probably get around 100 sprays easily from 50ml bottle. Normally a 50 ml bottle should last a few months but then again depends how you use it. If it is a fragrance you really like and use often, pay the difference and get the larger size. You will save in long run. regards twitter.com/SonnyAhuja

How to make an eau de toilette fragance last longer?
Q. I bought a bottle of Kenzo Air a couple of weeks ago, and I'm spraying it over my clothes, wrists and neck but I don't think it is even noticeable. Where and how much should I spray it in order to smell good?

A. I've asked a pro that worked with fragances on how to keep them on longer. Buy one that has less alchol in them, i've tried it. I bought one for 85$ with less alochol then its leading brand. It stays on for atleast 3 hours. If you overspray, you'll smell like a drunk or really bad. dont do it. Just spray 2 times on your wristes, and 2 times around your neck, and your hair.
