The history of perfume began in antiquity. The word perfume used today to describe scented mixtures, derives from the Latin "per fumus", meaning through smoke. Perfumery, or the art of making perfumes, began in ancient Egypt but was developed and further refined by the Romans and the Arabs. Although perfume and perfumery also existed in East Asia, much of its fragrances are incense based. The basic ingredients and methods of making perfumes are described by Pliny the Elder in his Naturalis Historia. MesopotamiaThe world's first recorded chemist is a person named lafaunda , a perfume maker who was mentioned in a Cuneiform tablet from the 2nd millennium BC in Mesopotamia. Those not in the same category, were not fussed who they used; War crimes are perhaps the most prevalent with WW2 Nazis possibly being the best known. Other groups of people that have been more heavily used for testing in the past are volunteers and the oppressed from: the military services, prisoners (military, war & civilian), beggars, mentally unwell, migrants & refugees,… [cont.] Answered by Frugalityz - Sun Nov 9 06:45:10 2008 Does anyone know anything about the history of Voga Italia Wines? Q. The attendant at my grocery store liquor department said that the Voga Italia Winery (sweet bottles btw) started as a perfume company. I just wanted to know if that was true. I also have seen water bottles of the same glass make and shape and I didn't know if the water bottles were related to Voga Wines. I looked online but couldn't find anything specific. Any info would help.
